LINK for Final Draft Movie Opener "The Hoodie" Since we were not able to meet due to the current situation worldwide, our group communicated via text messaging to decide what edits could be made. We decided that we needed to first attack the biggest issue: confusion on Miguel's kidnapping and possible murder. Some parts were reshot in the beginning to give viewers an idea of what might occur. We then reorganized the order of the small clips so that they made more sense in relation to one another. In order to fix the odd change in picture quality, all clips that made the final cut were shot from the same type of camera. Miguel was able to lower the music when people spoke so they could be heard more clearly. Now with the three suspects shown wearing the hoodie when in contact with the missing person, it becomes questionable who actually took part in his disappearance. What I liked What confused me Sugestions I loved the sound effects and background music. It set the perfect mysterious mood for the movie opening. Josh’s acting was also really great in the sense that he was a very affirming interrogator. The dialogue left me confused at times because I couldn’t really hear what was being said. The kidnapping was confusing because it happened all of a sudden and I definitely made this mistake of my own. Maybe record a voiceover to replace the dialogue happening in the opening and lip sync what is being said. Introduce the kidnapper more in a sense that leads to the kidnapping in an understandable way. I really liked the music that was used in the background, it helped with the sense of mystery and developed the plot.  I was a little confused at the end why the hoodie was just left on the table where the last person was interviewed. I think maybe at the end instead of the hoodie just being on the table the last person who was ...

Movie Opener 

Week 7: The image above displays the production company name we decided to go with: WAMM Productions. As usually done in the beginning of a film, the production company name is listed. Thus, we chose to open with "WAMM PROD PRESENTS." Since it is an important title Miguel enlarged the font and spelled it out all in capital. Miguel edited the video clips through Adobe Premier Pro. Whilst editing, one visual channel was used in the beginning. Three audio channels were also used. One's purpose was to mute the original audio so that the creepy background music could be heard much more clearly.  The black screen visual transition was added in attempt to the video flow better by making it seem as if time had passed by rather than just jumping to the next scene. One problem we had was deciding exactly what our script would be like so we struggled in that sense. Week 5: For our interrogation scene, we decided that it was best to use a dimmed room. We used the adjoining space and desk in Mrs. Henderson's room to achieve this as hardly any light reaches the area. Our star guest is Josh, who takes on the role of interrogator. The person in black is our group member Woody, a suspect in the opener.  To the right we can see a shot of Miguel being kidnapped. We originally wanted to use a car as the vehicle the victim would be placed in, but none were available so we opted for this open trunk instead. Our group wanted to go for a kidnapping in the dark so we took those shots outside at night. Miguel was placed into the back of the vehicle and restrained with belts and a gag. Actors: Alyssa, Maria, Miguel, Woody Costume: Casual Clothing (Special Appearance: FSU hoodie) Props: Belts, car, blanket, lamp Location: Miguel's house Date and Time: Night Script: little dialogue until the interrogations Film equipment: camera, flashlights In preparation for filming, I made sure my camera and tripod were ready (which we did not end up using because of some difficulties).  We decided that casual clothing would work best for our storyline and dressing per usual would work. Since the victim in our film opener is Miguel, we planned our filming site to be his house. This would be efficient to shoot the stalking scenes (watching him from his bedroom window, kitchen window, and others). Since our group felt a darker setting would be more likely for stalking and creepier, our schedule had to be planned for nighttime shooting (except for the interrogations). With such darkness, flashlights were necessary so that the subjects could be seen.

The storyboard helped us plan out what shots we would take when we needed to film so that we knew what to do rather than simply stringing together clips that may not make sense together for the opener. With the storyboard, my group and I were able to shoot the scenes much faster. Alyssa, Woody and I drew the scenes while Miguel helped contribute to what scenes we should actually make. Alyssa explained what each shot meant below the boxes.

Rise: This group did well with the lighting and colors. Whoever held the camera was able to follow the action occurring without moving too fast that it seemed blurry, or making me feel dizzy (considering the equipment available). This group did especially well in post synchronization by adding the music listened to by the main character and raising the volume of that music when he put on his headphones. While this felt like it could be an actual film opening, I was quite confused as to why so many angles of a teenager playing soccer were taken when more time could have been allocated towards building a deeper story. I did feel like there was an awkward cut from the first character to the introduction of the second character, but at the end when the two meet without speaking and such emotion displayed, I wondered what their history was.  Offline: - The editing... My group chose to do an action/adventure film because these particular pictures can be exciting and alluring for viewers if the plot is engaging. With an action/adventure film, we are able to capture individuals’ attention via an exploration or conquest filled with many obstacles that the protagonist encounters (especially with the antagonist). While there are differences between movies involving only adventure or only action, my group decided that mixing both would result in a much more interesting and fun film opening than choosing one genre. For example, having strictly action (non-stop motion, constant fights, chase scenes, crime lords etc.) which can be a bit fast paced, or solely adventure (dragged out-travel plots) can appeal to less people; combining the two would allow for an alluring exploration-type storyline while still keeping the thrill of action by toning down the violence and moderating the pace at which events occur. This is shown only to be a fake sight as the camera zooms out of the snow globe and shows the bustling city in which the main character lives in. The girls relationship with her father is also heavily focused on in various different short scenes where we see them having fun: driving around town, playing baseball, her birthday at their diner. But we see all that go down the drain when the happy birthday scene turns droopy in the eyes of the main character as some random woman who isn't her mother stumbles upon her father.
